This past weekend I attended my very first women’s conference at my church and I must say I really enjoyed myself…
The conference had our senior Pastor, Jentezen Franklin, DawnCherie Wilkerson, Lisa Harper and CeCe Winans. The conference started Thursday at 7pm. Our 1st speaker was Jentezen Franklin- His message was on YOUR PURPOSE; no matter your background, God has a plan for you.
Friday we started at 10 am and our 1st speaker that morning was DawnCherie- Her message was SLOW BURN; Loving, and  praising God, even if your prayers haven’t been answered… yet.
Later that day we heard from Lisa Harper- her message was CLEANING UP; Running towards Jesus.
Lastly we heard from Ce Ce Winans, her message – A RELATIONSHIP WITH OUR FATHER; What type are you in?
These speakers were phenomenal!

Saturday we started at 10 again and heard from both DawnCherie and Lisa Harper again. This time they both shared personal testimonials.

All in all I’d say this conference was an amazing experience and I would gladly do it again!

When Politics Enter the Church

It’s very unfortunate when “Politics” enter the church. No not the Democrat/Republican type of politics but the kind that classifies everyone. For me personally, its hard to deal with just because when it comes to church and God, wee are taught everyone is created equal. Hardly enough in the “real word” we deal with fitting in or where do I mesh best and so on and so forth, but to deal with it at church as well is not ok. I do not want to go into detail regarding a particular situation but I recently took something too personal that one of the “Higher ups” in church did. After speaking with my mentor she advised me to pray and not worry about it, because I am supposed to be living for God and not people. Which is very true and I thank her for that. However I am a human being,  on top of that a woman, which we all know God wired us with lot’s of emotions and I can’t just easily shake things off. It’s hard to listen to this person speak when I feel they are phony. This post wasn’t meant to throw anyone under the bus, it was soley used to vent this particular situation. Feel free to comment if you’d like.

***** UPDATE *****

It’s funny how God works in mysterious ways! Just this past sunday the Pastor spoke on “Honor”. He referenced Luke 4:12-23
He used this verse because it spoke on how the Pharisees did not honor Jesus because He was a Joseph’s son and a carpenter. The Pastor went on to mention we should honor EVERYONE, whether they are big or small, because God created us all equal. We need to let God deal with them and the things we don’t agree with. I felt this hit home because God has placed this person mentioned above,  in head of His church and it  is my job to honor God’s request by honoring who He called to lead His church.
I am now giving God this situation and will continue to pray on it.
I know this too shall pass.

Leading and Mentoring

So last week I decided after work that I’d check out my church youth group! I have been wanting to get involved with mentoring girls at church but have constantly put it off. Anyone who knows me, is aware of my passion for the young (I actually have an organization http://www.girlsunitewithlove.org). So I finally went and absolutely loved it. I am now a leader and hopefully soon will be hosting my own small group. The Lord is having everything fall into place and I couldn’t be any more ectastic! I just wanted to share with you all how joyful I am for this experience.
